The December 2010 issue of InStyle (I know I'm a few months late...), featured the Hollywood Hills home of actor and comedian Joel McHale and his family. His wife Sarah was a design assistant for Kelly Wearstler as you can see by her glamorous fingerprints all over their fabulous home. With her collaborator Elizabeth Gordon, also a Kelly Wearstler alum, Sarah decorated their home with a bit of modern regency style.
Sarah's love of color and drama are evident. The wallpapered ceiling and mirrored starburst light fixture are a theatrical gesture, reminiscent of Kelly Wearstler's aesthetic. I love the zebra rug that somehow pulls everything in the room together.
In the master bedroom, deep colors create a cozy effect that adds a sense of comfort and intimacy. The dark colors allow the white tufted headboard to pop. I love that Sarah covers the celings with vibrant rich color. And, what do you think of the gorgeous glass light fixture? It reminds me of a Lindsey Adelman design (if it isn't one of her designs?).
This exciting and vibrant interior has many of the hallmarks of a Kelly Wearstler design. While still exerting some restraint it avoids being over-the-top. It hits the perfect note!
