The Cheerful, Optimistic Color Yellow.

Vincent Van Gogh termed yellow "a color capable of charming God".  Color is a vital conveyer of ambience and the key to creating a mood in your home.  What type of mood does yellow create?  Most designers would reply, a "warm, friendly, energetic, and joyful" one.

In this beautiful living room, designed by Tom Scheerer, no single color is overpowering.  The white walls provide a space for relief, while the dark woods give the space a sense of completion.

Because the eye interprets yellow as a light source, this living room appears to glow.  A yellow sofa can be a tricky endeavor, but this one is perfectly balanced with complementary cooler tones.

Warm colors have inherent luminosity.  Yellow makes this elegant living room glow.  While very traditional, this room gets a punch from the zebra rug.

Several shades of yellow (lemon, gold and ochre) are combined, then contrasted with white to make them pop.  When combined with blue in the decorative pillows, the yellow appears modern and dramatic.

The strong yellow accents in this bedroom prove that less is actually more.  Used without abandon, the striking and intense shots of yellow add strength and energy to the space.

This bold yellow lamp adds drama, especially when combined with the more restful teal blue upholstery.  The flowing yellow window treatment punctuates the window.  Warmth is also conveyed by the wood dresser.

The bright yellow seahorse accents demand attention, adding a whimsical quality to this dining room.  Can you think of a cheerier place to enjoy a meal?

The yellow in this bedroom, designed by Tom Scheerer, takes on the cast of sand, wheat and butter.  The textural variations of soft yellow and gold add depth and enrich the color.  The color palette is very subdued and natural.

Shades of yellow and gold work well with a crisp white backdrop.  It keeps the space looking fresh and current.  The eclectic mix of furnishings reinforces this vibe.
