Ceilings comprise approximately one-sixth of a room's space but are often neglected. If we pay a little attention to our ceilings they can make our rooms that much more intriguing and beautiful. Many of the following ceilings are the masterpieces of the room. So, don't forget to "Look Up!"
This gorgeous living room has a beautifully detailed coffered ceiling. The beams dimensions and placement are perfectly suited to the space. It adds interest, but the neutral palette keeps it from stealing the show.
Coffered ceiling treatments add an architectural element to a room. This white ceiling opens up the space and appears fresh and crisp next to the black walls. This very traditional ceiling treatment appears modern.
This gorgeous wood ceiling counterbalances the light stone floor. The sleek linear wood planks echo the styling of the cabinetry and create a modern vibe throughout the space. It's natural beauty adds richness and warmth.
This striped ceiling treatment adds a whimsical look to the room while creating drama. However, this bright, cheerful and bold element still manages not to overpower the space. I love the black dresser placed against the black wall creating one cohesive plane.
Pressed tin is an inexpensive ceiling treatment that perfectly enhances this traditional all-white kitchen.
The curvaceous detailing on this living room ceiling intensifies the textural feel of the room.
This wood ceiling duplicates the wood plank flooring but takes it up a notch with intricate detailing. It creates warmth in this expansive dining area and gives it all overall Old World ambience.
One of the things I noticed while an architecture grad student in Italy---Italian designers (unlike many American designers) pay attention to ceilings when they design!
