Saarinen Table.

Classically trained sculptor and architect Eero Saarinen had an eye for form and design.  He also had a knack for combining unconventional materials.  Appealing to all tastes and styles, Saarinen's designs are classic in every sense of the word.  The famous Saarinen table works equally well with both modern and traditional decor.

When Eero Saarinen created the Saarinen table he said he wanted to "clear up the slum of legs".  However, in this dining room his famous table is juxtaposed with an onslaught of traditional chairs with dark wood legs.  The pairing works beautifully.

This stunning dining room, designed by Tom Scheerer, not only displays the Saarinen chair, but the iconic cantilevered stacking chair by Verner Panton.  Both are as striking as modern sculpture.  The Panton chair is not only durable and easy to clean, but surprisingly comfortable.  It was the first single-material and single-form chair to be made and has been produced by Vitra through three decades of development in plastics technology.
